Grades are broken down into 3 categories:
50% Summative Assessments - Chapter Tests, Projects, Semester Final
Notes are allowed, along with Desmos.com and calculators. The amount of notes allowed may vary. Taking notes and having examples of correct work go a long way in helping prepared students to achieve high test scores.
25% Formative Assessments - Quizzes
All notes are allowed, along with Desmos.com and calculators. Usually, students may make corrections on formative assessments one time after they re-prepare.
25% Work Habits - Broken down further
17% Classwork--This grade includes all things that happen in class, being on time, being prepared, taking notes, keeping your notes organized, participation, working with your team, staying on task, maturity, taking care of our shared supplies and space. Everybody should be able to earn a high grade in this category, regardless of their math ability. If you aren't there yet, you should reflect on your why because it is 100% in your control.
8% Independent Practice--this grade is our weekly Delta Math assignment. I assign the work by Monday and then it is due on the following Sunday. I accept late work with a penalty until the end of the unit when I will no longer give credit for late work. Delta Math gives detailed examples and videos on how to solve any problem assigned. Students can make unlimited attempts to get each problem correct. Tests grades of students who complete homework are generally much higher than those who don't.
Check Infinite Campus often to make sure you are getting credit for all of your work.
Any grade marked 'M' in Infinite Campus should be completed as soon as possible.
Students with excused absences have 1 week to make up the assessments. After that, you may still receive up to 70% of full credit.
