We will follow the rules and guidelines in the VPP Student Handbook
We will also follow these simple Guiding Principles:
Be nice, Pay attention, Try
"Be Nice"
Treating each other with kindness and respect forms the cornerstone of any thriving community, and our classroom is no exception. When we are nice to each other, we foster an environment that is welcoming, safe, and conducive to learning. Kindness encourages open communication and collaboration, allowing everyone to feel valued and heard. This is particularly important in a diverse classroom where everyone has unique ideas and perspectives to offer. By being nice, we not only learn to understand and respect others but also enhance our own emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, essential for success beyond the classroom.
"Pay Attention"
Paying attention is crucial in the learning process. It's more than just listening; it involves actively engaging with the material, asking questions, and participating in discussions. It means being present, both mentally and physically. When we pay attention, we improve our ability to understand, absorb, and retain information. It boosts our critical thinking skills, helping us to draw connections, solve problems, and deepen our understanding of complex topics. Moreover, paying attention to others shows respect for their ideas and contributions, building a more inclusive and productive learning environment.
"Try"
Trying signifies the willingness to engage, to take risks, and to make mistakes. Embracing this principle fosters a growth mindset, a belief that our abilities and intelligence can be developed with effort and perseverance. When we try, even in the face of difficulty or uncertainty, we're opening ourselves up to new possibilities and learning opportunities. Each attempt, successful or not, brings us one step closer to our goals. Moreover, the act of trying encourages resilience and determination, key attributes for overcoming challenges not just in school, but in life.
By embodying these three principles - being nice, paying attention, and trying - we create an environment that's not only conducive to learning, but also helps each of us grow as individuals, preparing us for future success.
